The best laid plans of mice and men... I have no idea what this staying even means but it's for when your plans all get rained on, and on Katie and Jesse's day we for sure got rained on. We had a whole game plan to go around the waterloo village farm with floral pictures and photos with the animals and guest playing lawn games. It was the perfect temperature and the flowers looks amazing- until you got wet. Jesse and Katie were amazing to work with and so on board with our united "its raining lets go have a great time". I kept the gang mostly inside and switched up a few more things to get more photos we didn’t plan. Such as a first look not only with the bride and groom, but also the wedding party can do a first look of both the bride and groom together for the first time. I also upped my time and gave them more detail and photos and creative intimate portraits with clear umbrellas. The water loo village staff was on their A game and seamlessly made an indoor ceremony and cocktail hour work out great.
Katie and Jesse met while working together. Jesse and Katie have been together since June of 2017, engaged March 2019, and legally married since September 2020. They accidentally went to an open-mic comedy night on our first date at a coffee shop. Jesse proposed by tricking Katie into going out to eat with my friend and sister at the same coffee house where Jesse and Katie had their first date. He stopped by because "he was around". Then he did a stand-up comedy bit and proposed. Katie never actually said "yes", only took the ring and hugged him.
During the ceremony in lieu of flower girls, they had “flower men”, two friend who were dressed in their most floral expressive selves and dramatically threw flower petals for everyone. Dan and Ryan accepted the challenged and succeeded with flying colors. As soon as the ceremony was over the whole wedding was ready to eat and have a good time. Katie and Jesse entered into their ceremony and danced to Death Cab for Cutie "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" live music by solo musician on the ukulele. It was followed by a traditional father daughter dance and then a punk rock 80's hair metal dance with Jesse and his mom. Nobody got off the dance floor from the second the DJ opened it with a reverse anniversary dance. Things were working out for us towards the end and rain finally stopped and I asked the bride and groom if we can go out for some night photos. They agreed and all the Christmas lights and fireplaces in the venue made perfect night backgrounds
