Grand Banks Oyster Bar Proposal in Tribeca New York City

Arun messaged me last minute saying he was going to propose to his girlfriend tomorrow and wanted a photographer to capture the moment I jumped on and said yesssss!!!! Although they can be nerve wrecking, proposals are an incredible special moment to capture. I (bravely) drove into Manhattan and got to the Pier by the Grand Banks early. I saw the boat and the pier nearby. There was a perfect corner at the edge of the pier with the boat and the skyline right in the background. I texted Arun the photo so he could know how we were going to set the proposal. Everything was in place, and I was disguised as a slumpy NYC tourist taking photos of the statue of liberty. They walked over and SHE SAID YES.. everyone who was looking clapped and cheered. A jogger, who in true NYC fashion, didnt stop or change his path but clapped and he flew by. She actually admitted she felt a ring size box in his pants on the way there and suspected something funny was up the whole time. We proceeded with their proposal with a small photoshoot on the Grand Banks with a glass of wine given to us from a restaurant guest in celebration. During our shoot, I felt a single rain drop.... then two little rain drops. I got everything I needed photography wise and was going to leave to let them enjoy their dinner, but the host came up to us and said the boat will be closing because of a rainstorm coming. We packed up and walked off while they were looking for other dinner places. I joked a bit and said "hey we got the photos that's all we need, who needs food". We laughed and I showed them the back of my camera and they were already in love with their photos. Almost immediately after they got into the Uber the sky went dark dark and it suddenly down-poured. If we only did it 45 minutes later we would have been SOAKED.
